In the past, UFP Technologies has offered one-of-a-kind solutions to our medical device clients in order to resolve specific challenges.  For instance, a medical equipment manufacturer of high-end heart monitoring equipment was seeking returnable protective packaging.  This packaging needed to be durable enough to protect the sensitive contents inside and must ensure that the equipment arrived at the patient’s home in perfect operable condition.  The packaging also had to be resilient enough to be used multiple times.  There was no room for error.  Using the client’s criteria as our blueprint, UFP Technologies created custom designed foam-fabricated inserts to insure that each of the components in the heart monitoring set were available in the same returnable carton.  Cross-linked polyethylene foam was used as the packaging material in order to provide a washable surface for the returnable packaging inserts.  To further enhance the effectiveness of the packaging, UFP Technologies used three colors of cross-linked polyethylene foam in order to help patients follow written instructions on where to position the monitoring device on their body.  All in all, UFP Technologies engineered and fabricated a customized packaging solution that ensured the safety and quality of the sensitive, life-saving contents inside.
